A note from our founder

Curtis (Chris) Hanvey
How does our
HGV+4
compare?
First, let me thank you for
your time and visiting Hanvey Specialty Engineering. As a real
world Groom Engineer I can be rather fussy about how numbers are
used so let me get some real numbers out on the table to help you
shop around for your next mobile unit.
Believe it or not the
Hanvey HGV+4 and the competition's
Sprinter are built on the same
size van but the Hanvey HGV+4's standing room space is
almost double that found in the competition's Sprinter(42 sq.ft. compared to
24 sq.ft). Why is this
important?
1. The ability to almost
double the interior standing floor space is a good indicator of
design efficiency.
2. The space in the
Hanvey HGV+4 is only a few square feet
from having as much room as our competition's large shuttle bus
format which virtually eliminates the need for us to continue
offering our shuttle bus Max 14-18. As for Hanvey's
position, attempting to offer a shuttle bus grooming van is bad
business for us and for our clients. Why?
Fuel! Fuel at $4+ per gallon combined with a real world
average of 6-8 miles per gallon compared to the 20-22 miles per
gallon Sprinter is a no a "no brainer". Especially when the
Sprinter HGV+4 has virtually the same free standing room floor
space. (HGV Sprinter 42 sq.ft. compared to ~45
sq.ft.)
**Let me explain "Free Standing Floor Space".
Free standing room floor space is floor area where you can stand.
This does not include space where tables, tubs or cabinets are
located nor does this include space under tubs or tables.
Some mobile designers like to use the empty unit floor space as
their interior floor square footage. In most cases, empty unit
square footage is more than double the free standing floor space.
The following tables are quick
reference comparisons that cover commonly asked questions.

7 years of Sprinter experience!
Looking at the above details you can easily see the advantage Hanvey
has after 6 plus years of perfecting
the Sprinter's grooming interior space while others have had less
than a year. Below
I have itemized a few of the advancements Hanvey Specialty
Engineering extracted from our years of real world experience
working with real world groomers on a daily basis in Hanvey
Specialty Engineering's 13 year history.

How
Many Roof Vents?
The Hanvey HGV+4 has 2 standard sky light
vents. One over the tub is a 3 speed reversible powered fan and the vent over the
table is passive to allow a quiet air draft to flow down over your the head
while standing at the table. This air feels so good! There is an option for a third
sky light vent over the standing
area in front of the cabinet just above the head of the groomer in
the picture above.

Moisture & Urine Absorbing
Vinyl Trim?
Hanvey HGV's will never have moisture absorbing marine grade
vinyl in the grooming area.
If you want to add color to the interior, put exterior grade
graphics on our spacious interior walls. Graphics like the one
shown never absorb moisture or smell.

Moisture/Urine
Absorbing Vinyl Trim? The
competition's vans all use padded vinyl to finish out the trim
areas. Nice bright colors but this urine absorbing material is
even used around the edge of the floor where urine and bath water
goes.

 Stereo Speaker System
Work at the tub, the table or the cabinet counter,
you always have a right and left speaker for true stereo sound while
you work. We only use marine wet grade speakers. Speakers in the
rear are optional.
(Double Cabinet has optional single door cabinet
attached) |
Stereo Speaker
System
Notice the
pictures on their site showing the wall separating the grooming area
from the cab. The speakers
are both located on this wall which means you only have a left ear
sound while at the table. Not the best way to get great sound at low
volumes.

idling and no additional cost to operate.. |
Their Propane Heating System
20,000 BTU

dealers due to its use to heat water too. How much does it
cost to fill the 7 gallon propane tank? Just one more tank to feed.

|
Let's talk about safety
Both Hanvey Hi "V" Gold and Taxi Vac are built to
UL Standards, The Taxi Vac has completed it's UL safety listing and the
Gold dryer will soon have its approval process completed.
We will not have a problem with insurance
companies. Imagine what your insurance company would do if they thought we were
installing 18 amp dryer that had 15 amp plugs on them(K9-II). Not good. Hanvey always puts your safety and the
safety of your investment at a high priority.
|
Ask the
competition about
their use of the k9-II and its undersized 15 amp plug. |

Other important warranties: A. Inverter has a
30 month warranty with no hour limitations like that found on
generators. B. Powered roof vent/sky light has 2 yr
manufacturer's warranty. C. Non-powered roof vent/sky light
has a life time manufacturer's warranty. D. All other
equipment items are covered under a 1 year warranty.
|
Their Equipment Warranty
Most are covered for
1 year but all equipment warranties
pass through to the manufacturer of the item. This means you
deal with each manufacturer for warranty issues.
Important to note: Onan Diesel
generators have a limitation of 2000 hours
usage and warranty expires which most groomers can use up
in less than 16 months if operated 6 hours per day five work days
per week. The cost of a replacement diesel generator is between
$9000-10,000 before labor. Diesel service and repairs are
significantly higher than comparable repairs on gas generators and
service may be limited at some dealerships. |
|
Available Hanvey Equipment Warranty**
(available thru 3/1/09
at no additional cost)

We are so confident in our 6 years of Sprinter experience and lack
of emissions control particulate filter failures that we have
decided to supplement the factory emissions warranty by 5000 hours
above what Sprinter offers with the emissions control system. The
extension is not being made by Sprinter. After the 3000 factory
hours, Hanvey picks up the warranty for an extended 5000 hours.
We can make this extension with confidence based on a six year
history of ZERO emissions particulate filter and catalyst failures
due to idle operations. So do not let scare tactics by
companies that lack confidence and experience in the Sprinter van
scare you into buying a system that only has a 2000 hour limitation
and a much higher replacement cost.
|
The competition's warranty extensions:
None
Our observations lead us to believe that five to ten cold starts
followed by drives of less than 10 minutes on a regular, daily basis
may cause particular build-up in the Sprinter's particulate filter
which can result in damage to the emission control system. If the
competition is so certain their choice of engine operation is so
correct, why will they not extend the vans emission control warranty
to protect you from this type of possible failure.
See previous warranty note for details on the high cost and mere
2000 hour usage limitation that
comes with the $9-10,000 Onan diesel generator.

Wall space and ability to hang
things on the wall?
Hanvey HGV's main white walls are backed by 1/2
plywood. The gray lower walls have a sealed 1" plywood core
that can not be water damaged. The bulkhead wall is 3/4 " thick. You can hang just about
anything on these walls.

Wall space and
ability to hang things on the wall?
The visible free wall space is very
limited. Almost all of the free wall space is taken up installing
things they think you want. These walls use a very thin
material backing with a laminate applied to it. Not much room
to add your favorite graphic design.

Convenience Door?
All Hanvey HGV's have a near full height convenience door
with a window. This allows you to actually use your
rear view mirror for a partial view through the back windows of the
van. Yes, you can still use the rear view mirror to see poles,
trucks and other taller "things" behind the van. Plus this window
allows you to look over your right should and look through the
grooming areas side slider door window to see traffic beside you and
eliminate a nasty little blind spot that would otherwise be there.
This door also acts as a safety door. Notice the keys hanging on the
knob in the grooming area. If you need to get away from a bad dog or
problem person, step into the cab, lock the door and you are safely
locked in the driving cab. We will never "sacrifice your safety to reduce
costs." This door costs over
$500 and is a great
example of how Hanvey always puts your safety first regardless to
the cost.

Convenience Door?
Their other guy does not have room for a bulkhead convenience/safety
door in the wall between the cab and the grooming area.
Groomers love having a door so they do NOT have to run out in the
rain, snow and cold just to get to the front seat. Seeing the lack
of a convenience/safety door shocked us. They actually gave up the
prized and coveted convenience door!
Without this door, if the side slider
doors gets blocked you are trapped in the grooming area.
